Childminding in minders own home?

hi
I'm hoping some of you very knowledgeable folk will be able to answer this,
I am interested in childminding in Brisbane in my own home as my own four will now all be going off to school. I do a bit of childminding here but am not registered, just for friends of friends sort of thing.
I'm wondering how to become a registered childminder in Oz. Does childminding from home even happen in Oz as there seems to be a lot of emphasis on Childcare Centres?

Thanks
Sheena

Hi Sheena,

you do have what they call family day care here which is same as childminding. I think that you are limited to 4 children but it all goes through a centre body whom a pewrson rings with their requirements and then they seach the registered minders in your area and contact them to see if they have vacancies. Im not sure if there is private child minders could try googling family day care and see what comes up.

asylon is on a distinguished road
Everyone I know that does this does so on a cash in hand basis with friends and other Mums.
Illegal I expect. Most people's wages up here wouldn't cover the cost of a "real" childminder.
