Exclamation Vetassess

Hi Everybody,
Hope somebody can help!

hubby has been working as a Carpenter for the last 5 years - no Quals but everything he has is through Work Experience.

We have just received a form from an agent to fill in - It's a VETASSESS form and he needs to know how to do 90% of the Carpentry Tasks on it.

This is fine - he can, and he needs a reference from his employer to say he has been doing this job for the last 5 years confirming he can do 90% of the carpentry Tasks.

What I want to know is................
Has anybody done this through working experience and what did they ask you to do at the practical test, also what paper work did you use as evidence.?

PLEASE HELP
Thanks

Hi Claire, my OH is a joiner, and also has no qualifications on paper, just experience. For his paper based assessement I think our agent sent references from his employers ( he had a few as is sub contractor and goes where work is) Our agent gave us a form to fill in, and OH had to say how he did things, writing out word for word how he would do the tasks asked of him, he did not do all of the tasks, but most of them in his trade. He had to start from scratch, writing what he did till he finished the job e.g. First put on safety wear(goggles), to the final result of how to put on facings etc, including the tools he would use to carry out the job, but remember with every tast to put down safety wear to be used. OH passed his paper based assessment, and is waiting to do his practical in April, so can not advise much there, only for evidence we are going to make a portfolio of his work, putting in CV, references and photos of jobs he has carried out, as he has done alot of renovation work, so have before and after pictures to use.
Hope this helps a bit and good luck.
Andi.
