Questions re IT Professionals

Hi, My husband is an IT Security Network Consultant. It is on the strength of his profession that we can go to oz on 175 visa. But I have a few questions and wonder if anyone could help, so here goes:

1) Can you recommend any IT recruitment websites we could look at for research. We have looked at Seek. But don't really know where else to look.

2) Should we expect that because my husband has no australian IT experience, he should start at the lower end of any pay scale. Or do they pay well for jobs in demand.

3) We have ruled out Sydney as a place to live. Too expensive and too busy for what we want to achieve. What experience has anyone had gaining IT work in other cities??? Especially Adelaide as they is a city we are quite keen on. 2nd in line would be Melbourne.

4) Are there any other security network specialists looking to go to oz????

My OH is an IT manager we too will be going out on the strenghth of his profession. He went to Expo in London and is now possibly looking at going out on a state sponsored visa to Canberra, we hadn't looked at this area so has now confused us somewhat, as for the jobs thing why dont you go to job expo in Leeds on 5th and 6th April.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yes we are going to the expo in leeds. Im getting so confused, some say 175 visa is best, sponsorship not so good.........arrgghh Im getting so confused. Like you say, hopefully the expo will help. You found the expo useful then????

Am live in Canberra and can say a quick look through the local paper each week tells me there are plenty of IT jobs. I am a Business Analyst and I could always find something to apply for. Look out for the gov depts visiting the expos. this is where dh got a job with the gov and I made a few contacts.

I would say that the 175 visa is the best as the sponsor option ties you down to that certain state...!!! and if you wana try different areas.. the 175 is the one..

Hi im an I.T Support Consultant and i went to the london expo and also was impressed by Caberra and have had a reply from them already as they are passing things on to the right hands.
I am currently applying for my 175 but if a gov sponsored visa come up i will concider it.
I have also noticed that in canberra you have to be a citizen for a lot of the jobs as they are for the Gov.
