joiner/carpenter coming to melbourne

hi hope someone can help, i came across a page on pio where you could register your trade but can't seem to find it now. we are coming to melbourne hopefully july 08 looking at somewhere on the mornington penisula but we wanted to suss out the demand for joiners/carpenters and if there is plenty of work there. we also would welcome advice on areas to bring up kids we have two children aged 12 and 10. any advice would much appreciated thanks.

Hello the hutchies and welcome to pio, I am also a chippie going to mornington area in sept hopefully if all goes to plan. At present i manufacture kitchens and bedrooms but i fancy timber framing or more roofs etc. What work do you anticipate doing in carpentry? what stage are your visas? have you been before? hi steve we have got our visa we got it granted oct 06 but because we hadn't sold our house we weren't in a position to move, we have just sold our house so we are planning on july/aug. we activated our visa last sept although we didn't visit mornington we quite fancy it you know living by the sea !! as far as work i can turn my hand to everything regarding joinery so my options are open.
we are new to this site so the meeting in york we don't know anything about are we invited? what is it? we would love to go if we knew more about it

Hello again Hutchies, Yes you are welcome to the york meet up. It is at the riverside restaurant in skelton north yorks on sat 19th april at 3pm. You can find more info on the forum -news gossip and chat, North meet up. As i said it would be great to speak to someone more relative to my position so we could discuss future plans for work etc. Hope you can make it because it sounds as if there are a lot of members from pio going so we can hopefully all benefit from this experience.
