Bricklaying jobs

What are the best regions for bricklaying jobs in Australia? I have read a few threads that say that the money is not as good as here, but we would rather know what the best areas are. (We were thinking of New South Wales) My o/h is a certified bricklayer with approx 20 years experience. He has experience as a foreman so would that be better to go for?

Thanks
Mx

HI Mel,I have just come back from oz on a months recce and there are plenty of jobs.35 to 40 dollars is the norm with your %9 super on top. From what I learned it seems its all trades are hourly paid and you might get a bit of overtime.Brisbane is mental I have never seen so much building work and infrastructure being built (roads sewers etc).I am heading for Newcastle where it is a bit more normal(no traffic).Ive just gone back into bricklaying and really dont fancy chasing the money any more not at 45 if you need any info on nsw maybe I could email you as I cant work out if this is a private message or not (I hate computers). The money seems to increase in the civil engineering side of building as well.

Hey ric, I am crap on the conputer also! Your reply was informative for my other half, he's a bricklayer. We were looking at going to Brisbane but then think shall we go to Melbourne or Perth! Good to here there's plenty of work though. Jo

Hi Mel

Its Su in sunny west kingsdown.......

From reading the threads on here it seems most states are crying out for Brikkies...
Although it would seem that Perth is the state to be avoided if you read a lot of the
Bricklayers threads...

As you know we have family in Melbourne and they say that the TV news are always
commenting on what a skills shortage Australia are going through at the moment..

The only thing I would say is the further north you go the hotter and more Humid
its gonna be, which means SPIDERS.... look up a thread that starts "What is this on my wall" from someone called Earlswood.

See you on Saturday for Jims b'day
