Smile midwife seeking advice and info re Townsville and area

Hi we are new to this forum and site and are just embarking on our journey and pathway to get to australia to work.

I am 44 years old, a midwife with 20+ years experience in the NHS and now is time for me to change and see new life and for us to have an adventure. My OH, Tim is 43 a self employed ceramic tiling contractor. We need work for Tim so if tehre is anyone with contacts for tilers please reply..

We are interested in relocating to the townsville area and want more information from anyone in the area on the information that is not given to you when you apply for jobs.

We have had our initial interview and CV etc being given to the chosen hospital and area to see if they too like me. I have been told that Townsville maternity services offers rotation around the queensland district and has a university attached so could be a large teaching hospital.

Please if there is anyone out there who has any advice for us, how to speed up a process, important info for us, rental prospects on arrival and things to do in the area.
We are both very keen scuba divers and look forward to experiencing the Ungara wreck and other sites.

Hopefully someone has done this from England and will have some pointers for us.

Hope anyone will reply and get in touch
Dee & Tim

Midwives are always in demand in Queensland. Queensland has the highest population growth rates in the country. you should be able to find work on SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site or if you want extra shifts of casual work try PloyMe - Shifts Online just set up a profile and employer can find you. Don;t think they have nursing/midwives on their site yet but I heard that is coming soon.

Good Luck
