tape and jointing

Hi,

Wonder if anyone out there can help. OH is tape and jointer in UK. Reading a few things on here it appears that a lot of internal walls over there are tape and jointed - is this correct? Have just applied for visa proper and he got his TRA recognition as Fibrous Plasterer. Is this the same thing if not what is tape and jointing known as over there? We are still trying to decide where but def appear to be leaning towards Queensland now. Any suggestions - Gold or Sunshine?

Thanks

Seff and Sarah

Hey there :)
I have just joined about 20 mins ago so not sure if its ok to post here so quickly :P But I am a plasterer in the UK and the fibrous part of my CITB City&Guilds training included Bonded Boarding, Drylining, cornice and coving work. So to kind of answer your question yes Tape and Jointing is part of a fibrous plasterer job (falls within drylining in the uk). As for what they fully ask for in OZ for you to qualify to work as a fibrous plasterer I have know Idea at the moment.
I am trying to get in as a Solid Plasterer (someone who does skiming, rendering, screeding that sort of thing) and I know about the TRA thing, but I am trying to find out if my uk qualifications will actually allow me to work in Vic when I get there?! Maybe i have got confussed by the different thing i have to do but my understanding is that if you pass the TRA bit that does not mean that you can start work straight away when you get there. You may have to get some training and licences in order to work. I may have read this wrong or got the wrong end of the stick with it.
Hope this is of some help :)
Matt

GYPROCKER
sorry not shouting but thats what you are called or will be called bit like a plasterboarder
or tacker taper and setter all rounder you do the lot. And if you are entering the partition commercial
area you will have to second fix carpentry to boot doors skirt and all that stuff A lot of
blokes have there own mechanical tape tools but there not cheap a good few grand
most gyprockers are paid by m2 to fix &set still quite specialised .Most Expats opt
for the rendering more on par with the uk way of things

try boral australia or csr australia thay supply materials
hope info of use

try CSR.COM.AU OR BORAL .COM .AU

Thanks a lot that a great help. We had been told there was a lot of tape and jointing but couldn't find much advertised for Fibrous Plasterer - thought they were probably known as something else - now we know!
