Hi Anette,
rather not say the name of the hospital ( am I really that paranoid????) but it's in the North and is an old place, so you are safe it's not Hollywood!
Kate
Hi there i'm completely new to this site ,i too have applied for my registration, the N.S.W board returned my application for registration, the info they detailed about competency was also vague-they advised that each applicantmay wish to obtaina copy of relevantcompetency standards and submit any further documents, which show that the applicant's practice is at a level that is consistent with these standards.clear as mud!
Hi Ali
She has not had to do a skills assesment but QHA are asking for a letter of nursing competence from her current sister. The one she sent stated her time working on the ward and what she did and her grade but it seems that is not enough. As for training transcript well many million gallons of water have passed under the bridge since that was used (in fact the bridge has sunk) and there are no records that far back. In fact they say they only keep training transcripts for approx 6 years.
Cheers
Andy
Oh god I'll wait for mine to be returned also then!!! I also sent in a letter from my manager just confirmation of my time spent in post what my role is ,and that in order to carry out that role I had to keep my self updated.Lets wait and see what happens,I only sent it end of May so I expect a long wait anyway!
Andy, I started my training in 1982 and they found a transcript in the archive. As the sister, manager or a doctor who she knows well to write her a reference as if she is going for a job, indicating the skills she has, her strengths, what she contributes to the team etc.

I asked my manager 4 weeks ago for a professional reference and she has still done nothing with it. She is worried that what she writes may not be sufficient or correct!!
Does anyone know exactly what they are looking for and how to word it. I can then write it and get her to sign it as I am getting bored waiiting. It is holding our application up and my OH is tearing his hair out.
My manager wrote - how long she'd known me, my position, my role in the MDT, the responsibilities I had, how she found me as a professional and a person etc.,

Hi
I'm Sue, 43 years young and married with two daughters aged 15 & 12. I've just started the visa application process and we want to move to Perth. Can you tell me if you have any knowledge of services for people with learning disabilities. Also I'd be keen to know your overall view on Perth
Regards
Sue
Hi All
Thanks for all of your responses. After a couple of phone calls to her future boss and her contacting QNC it turns out that all they wanted in the letter were the words "she is a competent nurse" as well as all of the run of the mill stuff, dates position, resposibilities etc.
The visa seems to be progressing OK (robbing B's the doctors that do the medicals!!) the only thing that will hold us up is the sale of our house. Anybody want to buy a 4 bed detached in Northumberland??
Wow, can't believe the size of this thread now!! Not been around on PiO much lately, so just trying to catch up. Robert's updated me on some threads, but he doesn't really look at this one, him not being a nurse and that!!
Anyway, welcome to all the new nursey members, and good luck with your journey! Have tried to look at all the new posts, but there are so many of them!! May take a while to catch up properly I think!
Now, I have a question.......just wondered if anyone has ever put an expression of interest CV into QLD health and got any interviews/job offers in doing so? I submitted one near the start of this year, but have never had any response. It might be that I was too specific about the area I want to work (Gold Coast), or that I'm a Children's nurse, so less job opportunities. Or it may be because I don't yet have my visa! Anyway, we've decided to start looking at different areas for work now, although still in the southern part of QLD. Hopefully I'll secure some sort of job before we go!!

Hi Mags
Yeh my wife did, got a reply from them saying they would distibute her CV and low and behold approx 3 weeks later got an email inviting her for a telephone interview and they offered her the job next morning via e mail. All is proceeding at the moment slight hiccups but otherwise seems OK. She is a general nurse so maybe that is why she got an interview so quickly. Maybe you should try again but be less specific.
