Smile Graduate jobs for newly qualified and lots more!!!

Hello all,

I'm currently studying for a DipHE Adult Nursing qualifying (fingers crossed!!) in 2010, emigrating under my hubby as a gas fitter or plumber and hope to go as soon as I'm qualified I've read something about needing 12months experience to get a job in Oz and I'd need to apply for a Graduate position as a newbie, what is this? Is there a few Graduate jobs out there...??

Also, if I'm not applying under me do I still need to get my skills assessed ? Is it better to do this in Oz or from here so that I can start working straight away.

Going under 175 permanent residency....

Questions, questions!

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

The O'Connors

Skills assessment

How long does it take to get an answer on the skills assessment from ANMC? I feel like I have been waiting ages. I had an acknowledgement about 8 weeks ago to say they had received all the forms. Am I just being impatient?!?

ANMC skills assessment takes about 10 - 12 wks. They should have sent you a letter indicating this....its so frustrating waiting isn t it??!!!

It certainly is. Thanks for that. My letter said 6-8 weeks so should not be too long. Can then move on to next step. It is very exciting but nerve racking too. Have not told family yet as not sure how they will take the news.

Hi Mags,
Well done and good luck in your move. I am also a childrens nurse and have just started application. We are going through a nursing agency and about to go to australian expo next Sat. Can you give me a rough cost of how much medicals flights etc have cost you. The way market is at present we are planning to rent out house so will not have as much capital as we would have done. Also i am 51 and not guarenteed to get permanant visa, though the aqency doesnt seem to think it will be too much of a problem.

oops, think i read only the first post on the thread. I might be a great nusrse but I'm no IT buff. LOL. We are hoping to go to brisbane, and would love some advice on area's just outside to live. I keep looking at online maps but have no idea of distance or commute times from the suberbs.

I think every state is different in their time scales. I`m told by a friend of mine that the vic nursing board are notoriously slow and can take upto three months. I think you do need your registration through before they will sponsor you but not certain. Someone else might know better. I would just get cracking and send off the application form. Where are you going?
Good luck.
