Thank you Ali,

Do you know of any links to learning disabilitiy services in WA ?

I am not employed as a Learning dis nurse, as I am a manager of the service. I would like to continue to this job in OZ.

However if I have to apply as RMN. I may have a prblem as It will have been at least 2 years since I worked in this field even though I have just renewed my reg with NMC.

I may have to do some weekend agency shifts ; (

Bren

Hi Amy...

I believe that it normally takes between 1 month and 4 months from the date of application for a 457 visa though I'm not 100% sure...

Regards,

Hi Amy,

Just from the experience of a family I know who are landing in Oz tomorrow for their new life after having a 457 visa granted in August after applying in April/May. Sponsorship can take a bit of time though depending on the employer...

Have a look at this info about the visa if you haven't seen it already:

Temporary Business (Long Stay) - Standard Business Sponsorship (Subclass 457)

Regards,

Dan x

Hey Mags

Wow your a lot further ahead of me I'm right back at the early stages! I'm a learning disability nurse (i've been informed its called intellectual disability in Australia). I'm trying to find as much infromation about my branch of nursing as possible! We're looking at either Brisbane or Adelaide.

Good luck hope you get there in July!

Hi Amy - i thought i'd let you know my 457 visa took 4 days...yes, 4 days. I did all the preliminary stuff way ahead of time (state rego, oz rego (i'm a radiographer so it's prob a bit different )) and i got my x-rays/meds done before they were requested (you have a 6 month life on these and can forward them to immigration before you lodge your application and they keep them on file until you do).
I guess a good agent and future employer are a must and i was lucky i guess!
so anyhoo i'm flying out in 18 days time to start work on 10th nov - gulp!!
Hope this is useful (and relevent!?!)
Sj
