It took 3 months to get registered with nsw nmc and then I applied as advised to anmc. They've said they cannot process my application until I get registration, which I can't get until I get to australia. They've said an eligibility letter won't do. I'm so confused. Can anyone offer help. I think I've been ill advised and am gonna have to pay again and apply all over again. It seems to take forever. I'm applying for a 175 visa. Cheers Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I think that NSW is the one state that will not allow you to register from overseas. You have to go into the office when you get there. You get the eligibility letter but cannot actually process the registration until in Aus. You take your letter to the office and they do it straight away. All other states allow overseas registration !
I think you will have to do a full skills assessment rather than a modified one.
You should be able to simply pay the extra and go for full assessment. Hopefully the ANMC will help.

Alison

Thanks Alison. that's just what I wondered. The anmc hasn't been helpful and I'm still getting it sorted but thanks to you I've just emailed them again and suggested I re-apply for full assessment. cheers Alison. Much appreciated. Where are you off to?

Question **HELP** How to register in ? what state**

Hello all,

New to this forum so here goes.

I am hopefully moving to Oz ,don't know where yet but would like to start thinking of what I need certifying, and how to calculate band as I qualified in '90 and have always bank / agency nursed until April 06 - July 07 when I was contracted.Who can tell me what I need to know ? And how far in advance are documents accepted as verified / authentic?

I am not working at the moment but have started the ball rolling with nhsp for when I move back to the UK in November / Dec time.I will know where in Oz we'll be based by then so will know which state.

I'm fortunate enough not to need to work but with previous experience I know that won't last long as I'm a people person.

Hoping to hear from you good guys n gals soon.

Calling All Qld nurses , UK police checks?

Hi to all you nurses already working in Aus and those about to start the journey. I have put in for my registration to practice as a nurse in Queensland and have had a letter back requesting a UK police check as I have not been in Aus for 10 years. Can anybody tell me how I go about getting this done asap as I dont want to delay my registration. (How long does it take, who to contact, cost etc) All help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Pozzy x
