Hi I'm Brenda
Feel like a bit of an AA too... been reading up an not saying much :) im married, no kids no mortgage and in the middle of a pg dip in health visiting. I Have been qualified as a rgn with over 5yrs exp in cardic medicine and cardiac icu nursing. We have decided to head to oz now at end sept/start oct pending completion date of the course etc. My hubby qualified as a building surveyor here and got laid off due to the usual reasons of late!!! he has now been out of BS work 2yrs now at the end of the month, although he's had bits an pieces of work to keep us going however its never consistent. So my brother and his girlfriend are in perth a year and love it..and we've quite alot of friends who have went in the past yr..who also love it. After alot of talking will we/wont we's...we have decided..we will!!! I'm really excited, although I'm not fussed on going back into the icu field again..I think im enjoying my life out of hospital lately whilst studying in the community, an i really woulod love something different...am i asking too much!!! Ive been looking into nursing in the mines. however cannot seem to find any info from those who have been there done it etc!! so any info would be greatly appreciated! I've read few websites saying work 8days 6 off FIFO. I wouldn't mind that..I think!! it would be more of an OH role..which i gather for some of the roles as long as you have trauma etc experience..that you'l be trained up in other areas such as pre med checks, health and safety etc. It does seem appealing..especially the rate of pay :) of course i am intereseted in what im studying (health visiting) however im not to sure on theri employment of newly qualified hv's (child and maternal health nurses) with no experience in the area plus it is a community based job. i feel as we are going to earn that i would be best using my qualifications and experience to my advantage to gain a higher income. any suggestions or reccomendations would be welcome..or indeed point me out if im going wrong. need to look into the visa thing next...thats another ballgame!!! ok thanks for taing the time to read this...and maybe hopefully drop me a line !! :)
thanks "moving 2 melbourne" :-)

Hi my names Charl im also new to the site, and also a newly qualified nurse - i qualified in september 11, we cannot wait to begin our move we're just gaining experience at the min as i need 12 months at least - unless theres another way someone knows of to move over sooner?
thanks Charl
Hi Charl,
I am a newly qualified mental health nurse and I qualified in September 2011 too :) I am too gaining the 12 months exp that is needed. Its so rubbish waiting it out isnt it!! Iv been waiting 5 long years. I cant wait to start the process though even if it is the new one. I spoke to Ian Harrop migration agents the other day as this is who we will be using and they seem to think it may make things a bit easier as us nurses are protected species in Australia apparently :) There is a quicker way by going 457 but i dont think its as beneficial or secure. Lots of love Laura xx
Hi Laura. I hav been waiting 5 long years too!! I spoke to go Matilda the other day who said the same. So just the waiting game now isn't it??? I bought. I bought the ielts books the other day so I can at least get practacing because we can do that while we wait can't we and the skills assesment too! Charl x
