Nursing skills assessment

Hi can anyone help in process of obtaining info to start visa process. was wanting to apply for skilled visa, have just read on gov site this can only apply to nurses at degree level, although this is not mentioned on ANMC. I am diploma level and half way through degree cat points. so does anyone know can I apply for skilled visa or will I have to go for sponsorship.
Thanks in advance Lisa

Hi Lisa, our diploma is equivalent to their degree. You can apply, go onto the ANMC web site and it will give you info. You need to get skill assessed by them before you can apply for your visa. You can either get skill assessed then apply for visa and get registered at anypoint or if you kow where you are headed get registered with the relevant nursing board first and then do the modified skill assessment. This can sometimes be a bit quicker. Have a look at my time line below. I am applying for a 175 skilled independent, I did the project 2000 so only have a diploma, been qualified 10 years. So you don't have to get a degree, your diploma is fine.

HTH, anything else just let me know.

Go to http://www.anmc.org.au/ on the right hand side it tell you what is needed for the skill assessment and has the forms, modified if you register first and full if you don't. You will need to get a transcript of your training, you get this from your school of nursing, or if they don't exsist the NMC. You also need a copy of your entry on the register, this country. If you have lost this like me you can also get this from the NMC.

HTH

Hi Tracey, Can i please ask, do you need to get skilled assessed even if you are not going to oz on my own visa? We are going out as a family on my hubby's visa.

hi there, if you want to work out in oz then you should be skills assessed. better to be safe than sorry. my hubby is going out on my visa but he will do his own assessment as his skills give us more points.

i would agree with that, apprantly the UK nurse training diploma level is higher than their degree level. i know lots of people that have gone out on skilled independent visas and only have a diploma, me included. do not need to do the ILETS test as have enough points anyway. some people do the general test to get more points,
