hairdresser need help!

Hi,
I am currently in the process of visa application and my TRA

Oh my word wat a head ache!

Please can some one give me a outline of a statuary Declaration for TRA.
I am a fully qualified hairdresser and want to get my skills recognised but i dont want to ask a couple of previous employers for statements as i may have left taking clients with me so i dont think they will help my case.

Has any one else been through this? What can i do?
Any help is appreciated
Thanx

Hi there, I have been a self-employed hairdresser since 1986, so I lost touch with my ex-employers, all what I suppled for TRA which I passed in December 2007 was copies of my accounts, receipts, a letter from my main hairdressing suppliers and stat decs from clients stating how long I had been styling their hair for and how often and how much they spent with me. Obviously I had to list my ex-employers but they did not ask for any information from them. I hope this helps and I am with an agent so I found it easier, for someone else to tell me what to supply. best of Luck. Tania

Hi Thanks for that only thing is i have only been slf emplyed less than a year and did my own tax online so dont have a accountant. I work in a salon and the salon owner buys my products to work with and i pay her a amount for that so can get letters from suppliers. I am getting the salon owner to write a statement to say i am self employed on her premises and that she hepled me with my tax return on line do you think, this will do?
I am gathering statements form my clients and ex colleges to say i worked with them do i have to get them certified by a solictor did you get clients statements certified? or just send them how they were?
i have wote a stat dec for myself declaring that i worked and these places and the duties i carried out, it was a very long winded and detailed stat dec and i no i have to have this stamped but do referance have to be stamped too? Sorry to ask so much just dont want it to get regected!
Thanks

Hi I think you have to show that you work 20 hours a week and have done so for the last two years. I got my clients to do stat decs then I got them certified at the solictors. Like you, I went into great detail on what duties I had carried out over my time training to be an hairdresser and what qualifications i had and any other relevant short courses. Again these were certified documents, I did fail my TRA first time then I had to appeal with more information and fortunately I passed. It is a big headache to gather all the information, but again it is best to go into to much detail than not enough. Try to mention everything especially about sterilising all your tools and equipment, I think it is so easy to forget to mention minor things but these are important. Are you doing all the paper work yourself and not using an agent? Where would you like to go to in OZ? I hope this has been some help to you. All the best. Tania

Hi,
I am doing it all myself, i dont need the TRA to get my visa i am applying for my visa through de facto as i have lived with my Aussie boyfriend for over 12 months. I just thought it would be better to have completed my TRA before i go. I have plenty of clients writing statements but they are not in the form as a stat dec. I have got 5 clients statements
2 ex employers referances
1 ex colleges statement
1 current employers statement
Very detailed stat dec from myself CERTIFIED
Courses and qualification Certificates CERTIFIED
Payslips

Do you think this is enough? can i get my clients statements certified with out them there?
I am moving to Sydney that is where my partner and his family live.

Hi i think I sent the original ones from my clients and the wholesalers, I don't think it matters that much you could always get copies for your own records. I have sent that much stuff off to pass TRA I have forgotten, I'm sure someone will tell you if this is not right. Good Luck with getting all your paper work together. Tania x

Sorry should of made it a little more clear, as i was in a rush the other night...
Only certified copies of certificates, passports, birth cert etc... The orginals from customers, ex employers, wage slips and suppliers, but as i didn't want my present employer to know the score i did a self statement and i had to go to the solicitors with my passport and do a declaration thingy of who i was...
I hope this made sence this time... cheers...
