Bricklaying, where?????????????????

Hello all, me and the family are moving to perth on the 3rd March but starting to worry about the work situation for Brickies, we are not tied to Perth so just wondering where all the work is and where the moneys to be earned??

Many Thanx
Simon.

Bricky

Hi Leafy,

My partner is a bricky, and started off in Perth and found work really easily, there are some not so good trowels there like anywhere maybe they are the ones struggling.

We were not too keen over there so moved over Qld. but you will find there is work everywhere so just pick a place you like the sound of work should come easily.

well you certainly wont make as much in oz as you would in the uk so if anyone thinks they are coming here to make a fortune FORGET IT,
dont know a bout struggling but the prices arnt that good in comparrison with the uk,but the lifestyle is certainly better and so are the friends we have met

must agree with Billy on this one ,in oz theres plenty of jobs but not much money to be earnt!!lol, but the lifestyle is 10 times better, sometimes makes you realise money isnt everything.

hi simon, i am also bricklayer just managed to get go ahead off mrs to apply for visa she was'nt sure bout idea at 1st. personally i'd agree with stacey, im just gonna choose a place i like the sound of then head out there find the work, possibly qld heard great things bout there met a brickie at a show who after 7 years has settled there.
as for wages had mixed opinions read a survey by silver trowl saying an average of £44000 year which would be great ,but off the bloke who's there doin ithe said region of $35 hour but same as here earn as little or as much as you want.
quick question how long did your application take start to finish?

thank danny

average pay in perth is $30-$35 per hour minus tax.
There isnt a lot of work on a price here mostly day rates,so be prepared for a huge wage reduction when you arrive,
I ,like most was averaging around£700-£800 weekly in the uk(yes different parts of the uk earn more or less)
that has dropped to around $1000 after tax which is probably equivalent to £400
shock to the system yes especially when your up at 5 30 in the morning ,have an hour and a halfs drive then an 8 hour day ,then another hour and a half drive home and YES the aussies cant drive but ,,,,worth it lol
