Hi Guy,
I Too Am A Plasterer, Hopefully Heading To Tasmania, Cant Help Too Much About Plastering Oz Style, But I Will Keep An Eye On This Thread To See What Replys You Get, I Wonder If It Is Just Sand And Cement Render Or Something Similar To K-rend They Use In Oz, I Know Most Of The Plastering Is Sheet Work And Taping The Joints, Never Really Done Any Of That, But Cant Imagine Its Hard, Its Kind Of Like Taking The Main Skillful Part Of Plastering Away, Good Luck Anyway, Matt.

I there! Couldn't help noticing you're currently in Heanor. Us too!! You haven't by any chance been having viewings on your house have you? A couple came to see ours today and said that they had just viewed another house where the owners were moving to Oz!

We did have the house valued last week and one of the Estate Agents said he'd been to someone else who was going to Sydney! Isn't it just!? We were the same as you; didn't dare do anything about the house until we were sure we'd got our visas. Sounds like you will be hearing something within the next couple of months though.

It seems like everyone's heading for Oz then! The couple who mentioned the other vendors who were going to Oz said something along the lines of: "Is there something no-one's telling us?".

No apologies needed for the questions LOL! My husband is a multi-skilled maintenance engineer and got assessed as Electrician (Special Class). We have two girls, 4 and 6. Our destination is a toss up between Perth and Adelaide. He had an email from a company in Perth who said they were interested, but that was a few days ago now and they haven't replied to our email. If he does get a job offer from them then we will take it, but if we don't hear back then it looks like Adelaide as we have had some interested parties say "look us up when you get here". Housing prices are more in our range there as well. A shame we're not heading the same way. I hope to get a house we can renovate and we might be in need of a plasterer!

Would I be right in guessing you also have children?

Cara

Hi Cara. Fingers crossed we are heading for Brisbane or there abouts - Went on Holiday last year- absolutely loved it.. Dont know whether youve been or not but we found it to be a wonderful place, fab lifestlye, lovely people and fantastic opportunities for the kids. We have two - 12years and 4years. They so looking forward to going, especially our Son - he's 12 and loves sports and just being outside... Pity we not going to the same place, could swap DIY jobs!! Have you heard from the viewings yet ?? I must admit I am dreading the selling up process, used to work in an Estate Agents and it was stress full enough from the other side of the desk !! Let me know how you get on......

Hi Debs,
believe it or not, we have never actually been to Australia. My husband has family near Brisbane though.

I heard from one of the viewers and they have decided to put an offer in on a larger property. I have actually found the viewing alright as they have mostly been friendly and have all said nice things. I'd prefer to have a load within a shorter space of time though, instead of the odd one here or there. It would be nice to have a bit of a bidding war as well.

Just had the energy assessor in for the HIP. It took half an hour and felt so invasive, particularly as the airing cupboard is in our bedroom. He was taking pictures of everything as well. Just glad my smalls weren't in the airing cupboard!

Glad to hear the kids are looking forward to the move, particularly the older one. At that age I think they can start to find it harder to leave their friends. Sounds like he will fit right in, in Oz though. Did the children enjoy the holiday as much as you?
