Just wondered can you get your blue card in the uk before you go, or can you only get this in Oz. I'm a chippie is there anything else I need already got my TFN.

If you're going to Qld or WA try bluedog training.

you will also need an ABN if u plan on working self employed as most of the work is this way
how did u manage to get your Tax file number from the uk ?i was told i had to be in oz first as they post it to your oz address

Hi,

Just got back from a reccie but didn't look into work much was looking round at areas and enjoying ourselves but have come back to the uk with a bump. Can't wait to get back looking at the Mindarie area if you have any tips?

My hubby used Blue Dog too, and was happy with them; received card quickly too. The online test was so straightforward, and you can re-do it as many times as need be.

Mel, yes a TFN is your tax file number, you can apply in a Centrelink office, or online. You may as well get one too, even if you're not planning to be working yet. I thought you had to be in Oz to apply, but not definite.
Blue Card online was so easy I could answer a lot of the questions! I'd get it before you leave, one less job to do when you land.

blue card u can get whilst still in the uk
defo need a blue card as he wont get onto any building site without it

Hi Billy,

My usband is a chippy & we are heaing to Perth - Whats a Blue Card is it like th UK CIS card? We know about the TFN but not the ABN ? Can you help us out with this?

Hi all,
Just clarify what Billy Braveheart has said u do have to be in Oz before you can apply for your TFN, unless your are lucky enough like me to have worked in Australia before on a working visa. 18yrs ago i worked there and it is still active after all that time.
