Are NVQ's recognised in OZ

I was wondering if anyone knows if NVQ's are recognised in OZ???

We are in the process of applying for our visa with my wife being the main applicant and are hoping to move to Brisbane in January 09. I'm looking to study for a qualification before we go as I don't have a degree etc and was thinking of studying for an NVQ in Learning and Development. I'm not sure what level this would be at the moment (either 3 or 4) and I was wondering if anyone knew if this qualification would be recognised in OZ and give me a chance in getting a decent job down under?

I am currently employed as a software trainer but have no supporting qualifications and am willing to try my hand at anything.........

Any help, advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tomo

Hi Tomo
Ive passed my NVQ Level 2 in catering just recently, plus I already have City and Guilds in catering, which I got over 15 years ago.. I submitted both qualifications to my agent and the TRA passed both lots of qualications, I had no problems with the NVQ, but I can't answer for everyone... hope this helps a little

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for the feedback.... I've also got a city and guilds level II (in IT) and really want to use the next year to update my qualifications - It's great that your qualifications are recognised.

Good Luck!

Tomo

The migration process people no doubt all know about equivalence of NVQ's.

Employers wouldn't know an NVQ if it hit them in the face. You can get them assessed by the state Dept of Ed or NOOSR once you arrive.
