Help! Occ Health Nurse And Sparky/mechanical Enginner

Hi All

Havn't been on the site for a while as busy getting the first stages of my application together (skills assessment) and has been sent off !!

I would like some advice please on the following:

I am a qualified Occupational Health Nurse (BSc Hons) Specialist Nurse/ Advisor/ Consultant

I am currently researching employment opportunities in OZ for the above role or similar, help required for good recruitment agency etc and including jobs that could be undertaken

Are there any particular locations in OZ that require the above role or similar, I understand that the Wollongong area (Illawarra region) NSW has major mining and steel industry (amoungst others)

In addition I have noticed that there seems to be a demand for Occupational Health and Safety specialists/ advisors

The degree course that I undertook has a significant amount of health and safety content; however, there is no stand alone qualification for H&S it was just combined within the degree program

Could any one advise on any extra specific qualifications that would be appropriate for the above role/s for OZ, either NEBOSH/ IOSH cert or diploma, if deemed necessary? Obviously have to look at undertaking this extra qualification if required ASAP, within a short space of time

Could anyone career guide me in the right direction concerning the above I would
appreciate it

Husband:

Is an electrical/ mechanical engineer dual qualified !!
HND Mechanical engineering
Electrical tester and Inspecter (UK) 2391
Portable Appliance tester
16th Eddition
the list goes on ....

What would he have to do to get his qualifications and experinced approved/ passed etc, so he can find work and carry out his trade, don't know where to start here ?

Please can some kind and knowledgeable individual give us some careers advice please

Kind Regards

He shouldn't have any problems finding work in the mechanical field as its not a regulated trade. With an HND he should find work at the technical level. His quals are classed as para-professional and would be roughly equivalent to an Australian Advanced Diploma.

The electrical side is much more of a problem. Without a four year electrical apprenticeship its probably unlikely he'll get a full electrical license. You can do a restricted license course which allows disconnect/reconnect to 650V for the purpose of mechanical maintenance. As far as I'm aware without a four year apprenticeship you'll need a BSc in electrical engineering to be able to work on power electrics? However, electronics is OK in that like mech work its not regulated.

P.S. What the hell is 16th Edition????
