Question Can anyone help a student nurse please?

Hey im a 3rd year student childrens nurse and will be qualifying in september this year and was thinking about emigrating to Oz after ive qualified. However im a bit confused over when i can emigrate and whether i need experience before i emigrate.I have heard that it is better to have hospital experience first but i have also heard from a manager from the perth hospital that they do accept newly qualified nurses. Could anyone help me please and answer my questions please. I really want to emigrate newly qualified but i dont know who can help me or who to ask. Thank you dani

Hi Dani,
I imagine that you would go straight onto the new graduate programme if you go to Oz straight after qualifying - it is possible.
I think it is a bit like our 'Flying Start' here in Scotland. All new graduates have to sign up for the programme as soon as they commence post.
You will be able to find plenty of information online - just Google 'new grad programmes for nurses in Oz'

Good luck in your final year of nursing and hope everything works out re Oz.

Gill

Hi Dani,

i was going to say the same thing as Gill, if they take you as a newly qualified nurse then it'll probably be as part of the grad programme.
