Hi,

I'm hoping to head out to Oz in the next couple of months to work as a registered nurse. I got offered a job on the Gold Coast by Queensland Health. There website is:

Queensland Health: Work For Us

You can fill out their expression of interest form online and they will get in touch with you. If you are serious about getting over to Oz, decide which state you want to leave in and apply for your registration in that state ASAP this makes the whole process of getting your visa much quicker once you have been offered a job. If you are looking at states other than Queensland there are planty of recruitment agencies that advertise in the back of the Nursing Standard and Nursing Times many of whom offer reloation packages.

Good Luck!
Emma

I am a registered nurse I used Health staff recruiting for the post I have been offered in Brisbane with Queensland health . They have been very helpful good contacts lots of advice and information. I have also been offered a renumeration package am going on 457 visa initially. If you look in the nursing times I believe Queensland health are interviewing in the uk again over the next few months or another avenue is to go to the Australia Expo's (Working for us.com.au)
Good luck

Hi Michelle
has your OH completed his course or is he still waiting resullts just wondered as state not able to get registration until april. It wont hurt to make a general enquiry with Queensland health or any of the Agencies some prefer you to have experience before you move to Australia.
regards
sue

Being newly qualified they may want him to do a post grad post - you could enquire. He will also need to register with whichever state you're wanting to work in.

I cotacted hopsitals directly and sent my CV - got offerred a phone interview and then a job.

re nursing in brisbane

hello there. I am a children's nurse working on the Gold Coast only having moved here 5 months ago. Your best bet is to lok for a nursing or midwifery job in one of the hospitals in Brisbane. There are some large hospitals for children and midwifery there and appear to be plenty of jobs. As regards health visiting, those jobs are just about none existent. They are through child health centres but are extremely rare. For the state health service jobs look at the queensland health webiste. All jobs are advertised there. There are also private hospitals (like through the Healthscope or Ramsey groups). I would suggest you look at these hospitals and choose which ones you fancy and then contact them direct. I contacted the wards as well as human resources as sometimes one said no jobs and the other said send a cv. The option for you would be to get a job as a practice nurse as there are plenty of those around. As a registered nurse here you can work in any field of nursing - not just what is on your UK registration. They are desparate for midwives here. I work for a private hospital and it is fantastic. The pay is based on muber of years worked already so make sure you bring a statement of service stating how long you have worked were and what your responsibilities were. Any other info needed, please do not hesitate to contact me.

There is such a shortage of midwives over here you will have no problems. I went to a few hospitals enquiring and handed in my CV also spoke to a couple of agencies I had to switch the phone off everyone got back in touch in the end I settled for a hospital I had previously visited when on holiday over here and am thoroughly enjoying my work as a midwife over here ....yes its different but then thats what its all about .........
