Hi Phil
I am in the same boat, I am a beauty therapist, I posted a question on here last week & havent had one reply..

However we did go out there last year, they have salons out there but it is no where near what it is like over here, I reakon it will probably boom in a few years though. I think the holistic side is a bit more popular, does she have any holistic therapies or is it just beauty.
Also waxing seems pretty big too..
I really hope it takes off out there:wub:
good luck
Chrissie

Hi Guys

Where are you both heading to in Oz? Here in Perth there are a lot of beauty salons but I agree its maybe still to take off here. Have you considered setting up on your own, getting leaflets made up, business cards & advertising.

I'm a Reiki practioner & teacher. I approached a beauty salon that is expanding they have a day spa as well. I will be starting in the salon on my days off from the kennels (yes I no glutten for punishment lol). I am also in the process of getting my cards & leaflets made up to go freelance. Just a thought.

Good Luck

Janette

EM&M will become famous soon enough
Hi guys, there are lots of day spas here and beauty clincs. it isnt as big but will become so soon I think. Waxing I think is quite expensive here compaired to the UK, set of gel nails is around $75.

Jeanette check out www.vistaprint.co.uk for printing, you can use there Aussie site but I find there UK site cheapr and they deliver to Oz just the same no extra costs. I got all my business cards for next to nothing.

Em x

Hi em & janette
We were thinking of either moving to perth or taz, I have my own salon over here which I am selling was thinking of setting one up over there.
But wasnt sure how it would go down, also I thought might be a better idea to work for someone first incase they do things a bit differently.

Thank you
Chrissie

Hi Chrissie

All I can say is the salon next to me is alway busy I have only went in to get my eyebrows waxed a few times & plug my Reiki but it's always full. That might be a good idea for you to work for someone at first to get to no the products they use here etc etc.

What kills me over here is that they have tanning salons I mean HONESTLY

Good Luck

Janette

Noticed a beauty salons at almost every mall i've been too, think it's a great idea to work for someone first to check out how the land lies, products etc. The nail place in our local mal always has people in it.

I was out in Brisbane a year ago and found a beauty therapist job within 2 weeks of being there, There were lots of adverts for beauty therapists and salons were very popular i looked on the jobs1 and seek.com websites and job papers, it does help if you have a car tho i found. I was also recommended to sit the oz diploma qualification equivelant which was $90.00 a one off exam. Hope this helps
