Construction Work/Accounting Brisbane

My wife and I are moving to North Brisbane in March 2008. I am a plant operator and she is an accountant. Any tips on the best way about either of us getting jobs and working before we receive a tax file number will be much appreciated.

I am especially interested as to how hard/easy it will be for me to get a job in construction. I have my Blue Card already but no other Australian qualifications.

Will my wife be able to get a job easily in accounting with her UK ACCA qualification? As she appreciates that some Australian accounting standards differ from the UK.

Not to sure what trade you are but there is lots of work about i have to travel about 40 mins and i am a bricky and had about 4 starts .Not been asked for any papers just blue card and let your trade do the rest i had no probs at all ..

We are looking to move to Bris in Aug 08, I dont really fancy driving, although I have a UK Leicence, do you think its going to be near impossable to get a job I can either... walk to.... get a short bus trip and short train ride? I dont wanna be skint before I ever start a life

Yes, No worries, Try Blue Card Induction - Course I done mine on line in November. It cost $69 in think!

im also an excavator operator goin to perth hopefully have had to apply as a drainer cos its on the skills list but as we do roads and sewers here thats what we do i was in perth in march last yr and got offerd 3 jobs in hour and a half as an operator / can either work round perth or go to the mines big buks lol
if your lookin for any job sites on the web give me a shout cos i think ive found most of them lol

Hi Keily,

I hope i have that many job offers when Jordanna and i arrive in Brisbane in March. The mines were on the cards but it will be hard on Jordanna. We have just registed with Hays recruitment agency. Any info on job sites would be greatly recived thanks.
