It is great to see how positive you are about life over there. I look forward to speaking with you again soon, Best Regards, Ilya x
Hiya Ilya

No worries, anything you need to ask, just ask,if you need to PM me (private message) just click on my name (DONOVAN) and it will say private message, click on this and then PM me your questions, and if you need to check your PM go to the top right hand corner of the page and you will see it flashing if you have any PM, then just click on private message so you can view.

Hope this helps

Hi sarah,
I am having trouble sending a message to your PM box as it seems to be full. Either there has been at least seventy five carpet fitters contacting you in this way over the weekend, or you are just a very popular lady!! I will forward my mail to you as soon as there is room to do so. regards, Ilyax

Hi we have a shop in stockton. My other half Paul has been a fitter for about 15 or 16 years and fits carpets, safety flooring and karndean etc. Is there really alot of work over there? We are hoping to come over in jan or feb to have a look at jobs, houses etc. We already have someone interested in buying our business which is good as we havent even put it for sale yet. Hopefully we'll find that there is plenty of floorlaying jobs over in Oz and we can get on with the visa stuff.
So glad you came on here as you've put my mind at rest a little bit. We would love to in the burleigh heads area as we love it there. Good luck with everything

Take care and don't work to hard

Tricia

Carpet fitters in Brisbane

Hi Sarah,
I am a carpet fitter/floor layer and have been for 15 years. We sent our visa application off about 6 weeks ago and are just waiting to hear back from our agent. We are hoping to be coming out to the Brisbane area next September. Is there really a lot of work for carpet fitters out there? We would really appreciate any info or leads you can give me to get work out there as I have struggled to find out about job vacancies on the internet. Could you also tell me how much can I expect to earn as a fitter out there and will I need my own van?
Thanks a lot,
Michael & Joanne

Hiya Tricia

If you do come out in Jan/Feb, we can meet up if you want maybe Donovan can take him to work one day just to show him the way it works over here, (he will have to check it out nearer the time to make sure it's ok) Your shop in Stockton, it's not Franks factory flooring is it, (only joking) I just love that advert when I hear it when Im up North.

Do you live in Stockton now? my dad lives in Elmtree, my sister lives Wynard, and my brother lives on Ingleby barwick, so we used tro visit quite a lot when we lived in the UK.

Anyway let us know how your going

Shocking that you yhink I'd own such a shop. Hey its called Franks the Flooring Store now. Its trying to go upmarket. My place is called P & P Carpet Centre. Its just oppersite the chemists on Tennant Street near the docs.

I live in Billingham now but Im from Marske just near Redcar. Glad your having such a good time over there. We'll hopefully be over in Jan or Feb depending on flight prices and I would love to meet up. It would be great if Paul could go out for the day to see what its like.

Are you all settled in then? Best or worse thing that you've ever done? Gonna start our visa process when we get back from our visit. The plan is to sell the shop and rent out our house fingers crossed.

Take care Sarah and thanks again x

There is so much work for people in the Building Industry here in Australia.

I manage a Flooring shop in Western Qld & the only way I can ever have a hope of finding another Installer is training an apprentice from scratch & then they end up leaving me somewhere between 2 weeks & 6 years, depending on if they want to work or if they think that things will be greener somewhere else.

I don't know how to fix the problems, but I do know that most of the installation staff I deal with think that they should always be rewarded reguardless, if they do a good or bad job & you have to go with it, or they will pack up & go elsewhere & leave you stranded as everybody is deserately looking for staff good, bad or otherwise.

It's very dissappointing & makes it extremely hard to be Professional.

Hi Sarah

Hi, at the moment my parents are looking into moving to Australia, but we were looking into Adelaide. We are all WDU viewers too. My dad Paul (I know, another Paul lol) is a carpet fitter of 28 years, and I was just wondering if you knew anything of jobs in adelaide. I am finding it hard searching on the net for jobs as there are so many different names for the job.

Thanks
Roxanne
