I've been in the UK for 5 years and my husband (who's English) and I are moving home on New Years Day with our 2 year old son. My husband, Jack, is a qualified pipefitter/plumber in the UK but his NVQ is in Mechanical Engineering: Heating and Venilating. He's been told by the Plumbers Board that there's only a very slim chance that he'll get a provisional plumbers and drainers licence because his NVQ does not have 'Plumbing' in the title.
My husband will have a spouse visa and immediate residency but is worried about not being able to get a job in his trade. He's also a gas fitter and is looking at options with that. Has anyone else had the same trouble with the Plumbers Board?? They're crying out for trades people but then don't let them work because of legislation!! HELP! Does anyone have any suggestions??
i was told i would have this problem and i did, when i filled in my application online they did not want to know about heating and vent so i said i had a basic plumbing which is your level 2!
also being corgi doesnt really mean much either as there gas is all diffrent.
probably would be best to see what sort of plumbing you like for some reason i went for 'new builds' bad choice!
