Hi we fly out to brissie on the 8 th Dec and will be applying for my tfn does anyone know how long it takes to come .Looking at sterting work staight away already had a month of work and its killling me

Have Heard It Takes Around 1 Month In The Mean Time Youill Be On Emergency Tax Code

Hi we have applied for ours and they say it can take up to 28 days but if you start work as soon as you get here there is a box on the tfn paperwork that you can tick to say you have applied for it and your employer is obliged to give you 28days without taking emergency tax hope this helps Helen

Why are you in such a hurry ?

I applied for my tax file number on line took about three weeks to arrive.

We applied for our tax file numbers online the Friday we arrived. They arrived 9 days later!

I applied for my TFN online the monday after i arrived and recieved it in the post on the thursday the same week (perth)
dont know if it takes longer in other states

Hi, we are in Carina (Brisbane), we had our TFN Number within a few days of applying on the internet for it, seemed really quick this end. You will need a week to chill out, jet lag etc, so apply on your arrival should be there with you within the week.

I agree with Mel ,have a week off to calm down and chill out.TFNs are taking 1 to 2 weeks if applying on line,,but you can work without one for a little while you wouldnt be stuck.
