Question Occupational Health Nurse and Plasterer

Hi all,

In the process of getting our skilled visa, the problem we have is when we are looking to skill match my wifes job we cannot find the OZ equivalent, although there is no problem with getting her nurse qualification recognised. She is wondering if she will have to give up her specialist field of work and go back to general nursing? me, no problem looks like loads of rendering for the next twenty years. She tells me that if she cant carry on within her field she would like to be a kept woman and retire!! Me i think its not only oz thats a dream!!

Hi Jinx
I am a registered nurse too.. my specialised field is resuscitation and I have been a resuscitation Officer for 8 years.. My job as RO is not on the skills list so I am going over as a RN and passed the skills assessment through the ANMC. When we get to Oz I will go into the hospitals and do some cold calling... I have been told by many that they snap up specialized nurses very quickly. I have no intention of going back as a RN I want to set my own resuscitation business up
Hope this helps

Your wife should get her skills assessed as an RN then look for jobs in her specialised field as hazel said as her RN is the qualification which will get her the visa

Thanx all,

This is what we have done, but we are going out again for a holiday in feb and will be doing some cold calling for jobs so hopefully we will find out if there is an equivalent post. It seems a shame to let all this training and study go to waste.

Best wishes sue and simon
