Hiya Gwen, don't know if i can help at all, but have you spoken with any migration agents, they might be able to give you some advice on the best route to Oz.
Sorry haven't got anymore ideas, good luck.

Hiya,

You would probably find it difficult getting a skilled visa because you're not registered or enrolled. Have you thought of doing your nurse training here? or, you could perhaps contact a couple of hospitals directly to see if there are positions for health care assistants. Here in WA they have PCA (patient care assistants,) but to be honest they're domestics, they clean, give out meals, do escort duties - you're far too qualified for that. Becky's suggestion of speaking to an agent is a good one, some offer free advice initially.

Good luck

Ali

hi there, i have worked in brisbane as a registered nurse in accident and emergency, to get the visa i went through so much, skills assessed by the nursing council, every transcript from university had to be checked and signed by a solicitor for proof of recognition. I too had lots of experience as a trained nurse but when it came to the visa they want to see every course undertaken such as venepuncture, cannulation, medicine management etc on paper and witnessed competencies through references and documentation. On arrival at work i was continually assessed and again proof of courses was undertaken. my advice would be to work towards the competencies required and then maybe do your training in oz. If you have all the competencies on paper as you say you have above, you should be able to get on a training course in australia, i have not come across an auxillary getting sponsorship but you could go on a working holiday or study visa. In australia they still have the SEn and SRN system in practice . My friend went with her husband as he had permenant residency status through his work and she worked as an health care assistant in a nursing home , she wworked within primary care prior to that, good luck im sure you will find a way forward
