Teaching in Oz

Have any teachers emigrated to Oz with state sponsorship?

I'm led to believe that you would initially be posted to a school in a regional part of the state i.e not Perth, Sydney etc.

Has anyone experienced this? Where were you posted? How are you doing?

Thanks

Apparently there are parts of perth that are regional, I think Mandurah is classed as regional - I'd check it out

Hi

My husband and I are both teachers in process of emigrating to NSW. I beleive you are correct but the visa is the issue. You should be able to apply for an independent skilled visa (175) which means you could go anywhere and apply to any state or private school. You obviously have to complete the NSW teaching assessment but then your clear to go !! It's a mine-field isn't it ! Where exactly are you heading ?

good luck Natalie x

My wife is the teacher but she doesn't quite make the points for an independent visa.

She spoke to a guy on the Western Australia Education stand at the London Expo last weekend. He said the state was sponsoring teachers, giving them cheap housing etc, but for two years you are placed in a rural school.

We are thinking of heading to Perth, but the guy's example of a school placement was Kalgoorie, which is 600km inland.
