Question Painter And Decorater

Hi everyone
I back again asking about job,now that my sister and my son are moving to Oz on Tuesday I feeling really sad .
Is there any painters and decoraters out there that have applied for a visa or who are already in Oz that can tell me how they got on,as I have noticed that they are on the needed list.
Also what they ask for and if you found it easy,my oh has had twenty years experiance,he did do his city and guilds but we cannot trace it.
He has not been in the job for a while but we would not have a problem getting references,we also have friends who are in the building game that would say he has been working for them for some years. As I understand it you have to have been working in this career for a number of years.
Hoping someone can help me with this.OH does not even no I looking into it again (bless him)

Hi Gwen

My hubby is going on a 457 visa he is a painter and decorater, has had his own company for 5 years. You need to have at worked for the last 3 years as a painter and decorater and also be able to get your hands on references, qualifications and your cv. Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

Tracy

Hi Gwen , i was just reading your post + this happened to me (yes im a bloke ) all you need to do is go on the city + guilds website and look for the links for lost certificates, download a form and post it off with the cheque . You will get new certificates within a week or so . It doesnt matter if the college has closed as long as you know the name , dates etc that your husband attended college . Its not cheap but its worth it . Good luck Ed

Question

Hi Edd went on the city and Guilds sight I have now filled out the form and paid the £34.00 I just hope they can find it,as it was in 1980 or 1981 when he completed his C&G in fact it was under the YTS He's an old fart lol.
If we get the C&G certificate what other information will I need to get together.
I will be doing the form filling myself as we cannot affoard an agent. How far in his employment do we need to go back.If anybody else can help on this matter as well I would be gratefull
Thanks again Gwen

Hi, just to let you know, now they have removed pathway D for assessment to Aus you will have to provide evidence that you did your apprenticeship for 4 or 5 years. Experience doesnt seem to count anymore.

Hi Gwen , I had 4 c + g certificates (1 for each year at college) although i was only missing 1 . Did your husband only need 1 certificate for all the years at college? Like Talisman says i think that they need to know that it was a 4 or 5 years worth of apprenticeship (training) . We also filled our application without an agent, it was posted on 2nd october , received + money taken on the 10th october. Edd

Unhappy

He did an apprenticeship for two years with day release to college,it looks like we are not going to be able to go this route I don't believe it.
He has got loads of experience and been doing the job for a long time,I don't no where to go from here.Feel a bit fed up now.Anybody got any ideas of what to do next.
Thanks Gwen

Hi Gwen

Don't give up yet, why not try the 457 visa route, see if you can get a sponsor. My oh gave all his apprenticeship papers, qualifications and references into his employer, the visa has been lodged and we are just waiting for approval!!!
Don't like the waiting game, good luck...

Tracy
