Question 40 year old apprentice?!

We're applying for a 175 under my skills as a Registered Nurse. At the moment my OH works in a office, and when we eventually get to Oz he fancies a change of career. He's not really fussed what he does, So my question is....does anyone have any idea what options would be availible for him to get some sort of apprenticeship in Oz? He's 40 years OLD (ha ha!) so are his options limited? Is there an age limit for an apprentice? Any thoughts or ideas whould be appriciated!
Thanks
Mags

Mature aged apprenticeships are much more common in Aus than UK from my experience. How you go about getting one I couldn't say? but contacting a vocational training group would probably be a good start.

Just one word of warning... at 40 he's maybe getting a bit long in the tooth for some of the more physical trades but there are others which aren't going to be a problem people at any working age.

40 and past it!! He'd like to say not! You're probablly right though Fatpom. He thinks maybe something like plumber, or car mechanic? They shouldn't be TOO physically demanding, but I'm sure any plumbers or Mechanics will correct me! I think he should be a hairdresser! He thinks not though! A baker maybe? He's honeslty not that fussed! As long as it's not office based!

Oh, thanks for that link Chelle it's very useful!

Thought I might cop it for that comment.

I'm now office based but occasionally do muck in with the tradesmen... its getting harder year by year to keep up and if the bastards see the blisters on my hands I never hear the end of it.
