Converting qualifications to ozzy equivalent

When drawing up a CV - I was thinking that our uk qualifications would mean nothing to the ozzies. Has anyone gone down the road of converting their qualifications officially to the australian equivalent. I know there are companies who will do it - but of course its at a price.

Is it worth going down this road? Has anyone encountered any problems just using Uk qualifications.

Oh - I am only talking about GCSE and NVQ qualifications.

Sooooooo much to think about - my head hurts!!!

You're absolutely right they mean nothing to most Australians.

I didn't bother with the school quals. I would imagine there are several avenues depending on the state you plan to live in. The NSW Dept of Education validated my (& my OH) regular BTEC quals for free (some years ago). Got the address of the correct office out of a book (pre-internet days). If you browse the sate gov education depts then you will probably find the current process for validation.

There was an irregular BTEC qual which they couldn't do so that had to go to a Canberra gov dept NOOSR and cost less $100 as I best recall. That one took nine months to sort out with BTEC so the charge was very fair. The regular quals were all that was needed for jobs anyway.

My CV quotes the Australian equivalent with the Australian assessing authority in brackets next to it [eg. Associate Diploma (UK equiv. Assessed by NSW Dept of Ed.) ].
