Hi everyone,
My partner and I are planning to move to Oz about this time next year.
I wonder if anyone can advise me what the employment situation is like near Woy Woy/Gosford for PA/secretarial work for myself and fibreglassing laminating/boat building work for my partner. We are hoping to live at Avoca Beach, Warambol or Terrigal, somewhere round there, and I'm trying to work out whether I will need to travel into Sydney for work or whether I might be able to find work more local, and the same for my partner.
Thanks a lot,
Kirsty

I think there are a few boat builders around Kincumber. You might be lucky but also try around Hornsby which isn't far from the Central Coast.
I don't live on the Central Coast but my eldest son and daughter in law do. She was in the same line of work as you and used to work in Hornsby. There are some firms on the Coast but there is also local government and possible receptionist work at doctors, vets, chiros etc. Can't say how easy it is to obtain this type of work. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Thanks Ellie that gives me a bit of an idea. We are staying in Sydney next Feb/Mar so we'll definitely check out the places you've suggested. Thanks, Kirsty

Thanks Gizmo, thats good to know there's lots of office work in Gosford. I've looked on whereis.com and it tells me its only 11 mins drive from Terrigal to Gosford! Sounds great. Kirsty

Are you aiming to live in Terrigal ?? it is lovely here, saying that we are off to the beach today and then to the local beer garden where they have a band on, its only 8.15am and a beautiful sunny day already

Yes, we are hoping to move to Terrigal or near to there. My sister moved to Oz a year ago and she lives in Darlinghurst, in Sydney so she works in the CBD and can walk to work. We would rather live out of the city though , where rent is cheaper and we can live near the coast for less than in the city, also we prefer a quieter life, the area around Terrigal looks good as its got best of both worlds , I can visit my sister from there but also live in what sounds like a beautiful area, its been recommended to me.
We're coming to Sydney for a holiday in February so plan to do a reccie of all the areas then, but that is definitely the area we're planning for at the moment. It sounds perfect!
