Study to be a plumber and heating engineer UK or Australia advice need.

Hi all,

 

I would like to study to become a plumber and heating engineer with a dream of emigrating to Australia in the near future but not sure where i should do the course.

 

Would i be wasting my money doing a plumbing and heating course here in the UK with the intentions to emigrate to Australia in the near future or would i be better off paying to do a plumbing and heating course in Australia? Also what is the minimum hourly pay rate for a newly qualified plumber in Australia?

I think in Australia it is a four year apprenticeship based qualification for which I think you need to be a resident, there is a cert II course but that seems to be a pre apprentice course, it might be worth checking out Australian apprenticeships webpage just to be sure.

You could not do it in Australia as you would need residence. I think it takes a few years to complete in the UK and then in order to pass the skills assessment you would need some more time post qualified - i think its about 3 years.

 

There is also the risk that the occupation is removed from the list in that time
