Hi again, Kathy
I know this is a very old thread, but if you have not found the information you are after then please start with the official Fisheries website, I suggest;
Welcome to the Australian Fisheries Management Authority website
Like most places, wherever there is a wholesale fish-market there is generally a fishing quay that the boats can tie up at so as to offload straight into the airconditioned sale shed.
In Perth, I've seen lots of fishing boats tied up near the fishmarket in Fremantle. I would think one would also find fishing boats on buoys where the harbour is suitable for that. I've never noticed any pile moorings in WA but I can't say I've looked for them either.
Try these websites as well, I suggest:
Commercial Fishing and Fisheries in Western Australia - Department of Fisheries, Western Australia, Fish for the Future
WAFIC
http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/...le-Harbour.pdf
Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour
That last link is handy because it lists all the main fishing harbours in WA. I clicked on the Kalbarri link (simply because I've been to Kalbarri) and the format appears to be the same as the main one for all the harbours with aerial views, details of charges etc.
Obviously, you could repeat the search for, say, the Gold Coast rather than the whole of QLD.
I used Google Australia to find the stuff, by the way (tell Google UK to find Google Australia and then tell the latter to confine itself to finding Australian web-pages.)
Best wishes
Gill
