Mining Industry jobs

Has anybody on this forum gained employment in the Oz mining industry?

I have been trying for ages, and despite the massive demand for my trade - Mining Engineering (opencast coal) - am getting nowhere. Because of my age (46) I am looking for an employer that will sponser me and this may be the problem, even though I can boast 18 years mining experience!

If anyone out there has any advice I would welcome it - and do you think it would make a difference to go to Oz and put myself in front of the companies face to face?

I recently posted a thread on here about a coal mining company who were advertising in our local paper.

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/showth...ht=mech+fitter

They were looking to sponsor people up to the age of 47, advertising for specific trades though, but they are interviewing in England this month so not sure if it helps

Best wishes

Hi
You might find this guy helpful <paulgrey@greysmigration.com.au>. He is an agent out in Australia who deals in this line of work. We decided to go down the line of 136 visa but could of gone on a sponsor ship. Hubby's a heavy goods diesel fitter by trade and he's 45.

I hope this helps. Need any more information let me know.

Hi

have a look at this site - careerone.com.au and select mining - there are a lot of jobs advertised that seem to be through a job agency called Hays. They might be able to help

confused excavator operator

hi i have operated exscavators for around 20 years, ive looked at alot of mining job vacancies advertised on various sites ,[excavator operators] most of them ask that you have experience in operating 100 ton plus machines. i have only ever operated machines upto about 30 ton. Surely unless you are given the chance to gain experiance on bigger machines they will never fill their vacancies
