I am looking at this option as well, not much response from the UK. Problem is I am 46....(just) and so will need to be sponsored, it seems like chicken and egg situation that you need a visa to get job and vice versa !

when applying for jobs whilst still in the uk myself and hubby got very little response. We came here for a few week and part of that time we spent trawling around works that seemed in our line of work ,had a great response and hubby got a few job offers.most aussies are so laid back they dont mind you just walking in and asking ,,take your cv with you thou.

Hi Patsmec

I am 42 and have the same problem, that is why we decided to bite the bullet and make the visit to get away from the excuse. My biggest problem is that I do not match a role on the Demand List, but can do a variety of different roles. When I speak to recruitment people they seem to love what I do, but feel they can place me, but only when I live in Oz - Chicken and egg as you say

Hoping to move forward during the visit

Best of luck with your search - keep in touch

Hi Calngary

I have come to the same conclusion - which is why I will be there 28th May to 1st June - I do not have a direct trade, but could do a number of jobs on the list
I am just going to get over there, meet as many people as possible and see what happens

hi Kamlak

I am starting to think the same way, I am a skilled mechanic who has worked for the AA for 19 years and am looking at doing something similar over there......in the sun, it would make a pleasant change.......but no response from e-mail.
starting to think about a visit to move things along.

Hi Patsmec
I would have thought with your profession you would find a job very quickly, but you will need to be there face to face.
My findings at the moment confirm the feedback I have had that when people know you are there, they are willing to meet and talk
Best of luck

Kamlak

Hi Kamlac
Ive looked at that, thanks for the tip.
I am starting to think its when not if I travel over, a lot better chance and it will give me chance to see Oz.....I'm one of the vast majority who are looking at migrating without being there before !
