social work/youth work in oz
just wondering if anyone is doing this at the moment, as I know my social work qualifications arent recognised in oz and I might have to do some youth work instead. not that this bothers me much as I prefer youth work anyway.
any feedback would be great:)

I have friends who are social workers moving out there, get in touch with the local health authority out there and they will tell you where you stand. best of luck im out there soon as I have done my social work qualification. lyn

egghead, over the last few years, people have had to do a certificate 3 in youthworking here, I worked as a youthworker in a juvenile detention centre [young persons prison] for 14 years, unfortunately I got medically retired because of injuries sustained in the workplace.
Most institutions like these are only too glad to put you through the courses needed as they can't keep staff, can be dangerous at times, try looking at Juvenile Justice on Google.
