Is there just work for a window fitter in oz

Hi there, we are in the very early stages of looking into moving to australia and my husband is a window, door & conservatory fitter. He does mainly double glazing in england but can do normal windows. I just wondered if anyone knew if there are many jobs there that would suit him. As i am finding it hard looking on the websites as to what his job is called over there. We have also been told that this does not apply as a trade in australia and would not be excepted to live there.
We would be very grateful if anyone could help.
Thanks
Rachel

... yes tehre are double glazing firms... I know...I'm having some done next week...

And good window fitters are like gold dust here too apparently...

Problem is that unlike teh UK, you get window makers, and window fitters...and less of the "supply and fit" type contracts... but it is an increasingly poular business here.

Try www.yellowpages.com.au

We're using a firm called "Certainteed"

Ther are a lot of others. Try www.yellowpages.com.au

Give them a call or drop them an e-mail...what do you have to lose?

Hi Rachel

While we were holidaying in Brisbane last year we were based in Bayside. We weren't far from a double glazing and conservatory showroom they were advertising for blokes outside of their premises for fitters etc they said the sign had been up a while but could not find anyone. Apparently they were getting desperate with all the new homes that are going up I would imagine fitters will be required for quite a while. I am led to believe that a lot of companies dont advertise and that you just send your cv and cold call on them.

All the best
Kaye :)
