Telecom jobs

Hi everyone,
My husband is a telecom engineer and we'd really like to get his C.V. out to companies in OZ, in hope of a job offer to help with a visa. Does anyone know of any agencies or companies in Oz. Any info would be a great help!!

Thanx

cv

Hi Chewie

When we first embarked on the whole visa thing we went to a couple of Australian Expo's and found these really quite helpfull, especially if you go it alone like we did and not use an agent.
My husband took several copies of his CV and handed them out to the relative companies, they also have goverment representitives there who are interested in sponsering people.
Other than that there are loads of job agencies on the internet and you can email your cv to them,

Good luck

Lisa, :)

hi chewie
new to this site and i am also a telecom eng (BT) work as a ug jointer. i too am sending cv of to possible employers but no look yet. we are now going down route of own visa .will have to go for SIR as only got 110 pnts. i am 35 and occupation is not on modl list...agent reckons best chance of getting in will be to go for south aust as appanrently they let people in whos jobs or on the SOL list.....finger crossed ..keep in touch if you are going down route to get over to aust . we may be able to help each other out and who knows in a year or so we could be having a beer in a more sunnier climate...

Ok, companies:

Telstra - As far as I know they generally don't sponsor
Telecom NZ - May sponsor
AAPT - unsure
Nortel - Def do sponsor as I had an offer from them, thou helped that I knew people there personally
Dimension Data - more of a consultancy type org - likely to sponsor

Other thing to do is search on www.seek.com.au and see what comes up and then go direct to the orgs. Difficult to do but I managed to secure a role this way and fly out in 4 weeks

Australian Expo's is also a good idea.

Hope it helps
