White cards!!

HI, we've booked our flights(Singapore airlines) for June 2013, i`ve been seeing alot written about white cards, im a carpenter, my fiance has experience in both care and office work, we both intend to work when we arrive in aus WA. My question is do we both need a white card or just me for construction? Also is it possible to gain white card whilst still in UK

I think the white card is for construction, think it is equivalent to our cscs card...my husband done his on line in uk (we go in august 2012) with a company called aveling. It was really easy, its a multiple choice course, so you cant really fail. You also have so many days to finish the course (i think about 90 days), its around a 4 hour course. We paid debit card (i think around 40-50 pound) and the card was posted to our Uk address, very quickly....good luck

Hi, im a chippy aswell,im pretty sure that a white card is the australian equivilant to the u.k's CSCS card.basically a card to prove that you are trained in health and saftey,so you will probably just have to sit a one day course or something. where abouts in oz you going? we're hoping to be in perth in a few months time.

Hey,we're not totally sure yet where we will go,but i think we will go NOR so not far from you guys.Ive got a couple of mates in perth,one who is a chippy aswell and lives in freemantle,and has been out there for 7 years so has plenty of contacts he can pass on.my other mate works for "hays" which is a massive recruitment company that specialises in supplying trades to the construction industry.so if you want i could send you his details for when you get out there.

I used aveling too -not a bad word to say about them - all very good and quick and easily achieved too as most of these sort of H&S courses are!
