Skype Interview

Hello lovely Pomz,

I had a telephone call this morning from a law firm in Sydney to arrange a skype interview for the end of next week. I just wondered if anyone who has had an interview via skype could let me know what to expect?

I am a paralegal/qualified conveyancer.

I'm soooo nervous I can't think straight! Any idea of success after a skype call? It will be with the 3 partners of the firm!

hi I had a skype interview and it is a strange experience. I would practice talking on skype with friends first as there is a very slight delay, also make sure your pc is running properly you don't want it to crash midway through the interview.

Decide where you are going to sit and think about the background just incase you have any dodgy pictures behind you. Dress for an interview that will make you feel right.

And remember they can't see your desk so have some notes to help you i.e. your cv questions you might want to ask and things you don't want to forget to mention.

Although strange I think that skype interviews are ok, you'll be fine just relax and enjoy

Thank you Edie, great advice! Had a practice earlier is quite a strange experience! The interview will be around 8am so I will be dressed for work already!

Well to tell the truth I have had two interviews via skype one last year I was offered the job but turned it down in the end as it was the wrong place for the family.

The other was about six weeks ago, I have since spoken to them a couple of times on the phone and hope to have an offer in the next couple of days..... fingers crossed.

My Hubbie did his interview on Skype at home. We ran into one problem in that he had no picture so he wasn't sure if the other guy could see him!! But we put it in a good spot. I even made sure everything around was spotless as there was sliding doors out to the patio behind and they would reflect the other side of the room. He had a notepad with everything he wanted to ask and to jot down answers he got. It ended up fine and quite relaxed. Have a drink beside you as well in case you get dry mouth. He dressed up like he was physically going for an interview also. We are heading over now shortly for a week to finalise the job. So fingers crossed!!! Best of luck in it

Thanks for your reply albury ahoy! Where abouts in Australia has your husband been offered the job?

Any particular questions I should prepare for? I have done all the usual...looked at website, copy of the job offer etc.

Albury. They asked him did he have any family or friends over there. And had he been there before. Why did he feel Australia would suit him. I think they want to be sure that you will settle over there.
