      Nursing Jobs in ED

I am a nurse still in the UK, with a permanent visa and registered with AHPRA. I am looking for a job in Brisbane, preferably ED. Does anyone have any advice on how to get any contacts? Already filled in the expression of interest (QLD Health) just wondered if there was any other ways of finding work. I am interested in the Princess Alexandra or other surrounding areas.

Have you tried contacting the hospitals directly? Are you able to get to any of the expos coming up shortly as I think quite a lot of recruiters will be there. If you have visa and AHPRA I'm sure you will have no problems finding a job...good luck
AHPRA sent 10/6/11 AHPRA reg approved 12/8/11 RSMS nomination approved 11/10/11 Visa application and PCC sent15/12/11 Medicals booked 11/01/12 CO 09/01/12 Visa granted 31/01/12 Flying 27/04/12

Hi, I would literally email the hospitals you are interested in directly, and make sure you say you are aphra registered with a PR visa. I got a much better response emailing the hospitals directly and I didn't have visa or anything at that time. Most hospitals will have a careers or employment link if you look on their websites, and sometimes a named person you can email and send enquiries to.
I really wouldn't bother with agencies in your position.
is their any restrictions with you being able to start work? The only slight problem is if you won't be moving for another year or something...

      Good luck!

Just had a quick look, and to skip going through QLD health look at this link:

PA Hospital Careers Home Page - Princess Alexandra Hospital

I will be working at the mater hospital so here is the link for their employment page, just incase you are interested elsewhere...

      Employment at Mater (exceptional.org.au)

      Hope this helps

Thanks for the information, just wondered how to email the hospitals direct? As everytime I have tried, it has directed me to the QLD health website with expression of interest submission (which I have done). I think I am going to call the HR departments direct. We are looking to go asap. Any more help I would appreciate.

      Just found this

      "Do you require assistance?

Our recruitment team will be happy to help:
      Phone: (07) 3121 1411
      Email: [email]PA_Recruitment@health.qld.gov.au[/email"

You can't upload your cv directly to them as they are apparently having a web problem. I would contact them either phone or email as above.

      Hi,

I am in the same position looking for ED and MAPU or Medical ward.

Are you aware of any jobs?

I went to the expo today and met up with MAter no help at all, more interested in giving me a free pen and bag than helping me. Any suggestions?

PA said they had no jobs, they are discarding most CV's that are being sent as they have an overwhelming response to nursing pool already.

Hi sorry no I don't know of any jobs tbh. I had my interview last year so no idea on the current situation.
Having said that it did take me a couple of months of sending cvs and emails off to various HR depts at the hospitals aswell as applying for jobs online before I got any responses, though at that time I didn't have a visa, aphra registration, nothing, so I started the aphra process and whilst that was in the running I got offered an interview. Quite lucky really. I would have thought though, in DaveandJos position of having the visa etc all ready they shouldn't have a problem. Perhaps get your registration (if you don't already) as it will help.

With regards to the expos- they generally are rubbish (imo) . You can find everything you want to know and more from forums like this or British expats etc. We went to a couple a few years back and was a complete waste of time.

We did get a nice calendar though with Australian landscapes on it
