Nurses, please help! R.E Interview
Firstly I would like to say a big HELLO!!! and a thank you for all the information that available through your posts about nursing in australia, and all the finicky things you need to do to do this.
Ive been on the site for a while, but only just been brave enough to post!
I am a 25 year old 3rd year nursing student (adult) will finish in September, be in Oz on a working visa for November, and hopefully have some sort of job/graduate position and a 457 visa in Perth by Feb 2012.
I recently applied for the Joondalup Health Campus, the overseas recruitment drive, even though it said you need a years experience ( they have been telling us at uni just to apply for everything). I was expecting them to get back to me and reject my application, but instead I have been offered an interview in manchester!!!
Although I was very explicit in my C.V and covering letter that I have not yet qualified, they have made no reference to this in their invitation to interview, and now I'm worried that they have not realised this, and that it may jeapordise any future applications for the Ramsay Graduate Program.
Should I email back to remind them I am an undergraduate? I feel sneaky.
Opinions/advice would be most welcome!!!
thanks,
Beth xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Beth
I wouldnt worry about it tbh, like you said you did put in clearly in your application so its their problem really should they have missunderstood your circumstances, i doubt they have though. Sometimes the requirements in the add is more of a wish list rather than essential.
This is a great opportunity for you to dazzel them with your brilliance so even if they thought you were already qualified they couldnt possible resist you
. If nothing else its all good experience.
so stop worrying and go preparing for your interview!

congratulations on getting the interview, I also have one in Glasgow and i dint think i would either as altho i am qualified and have been for 14 yrs i dont have my nursing reg yet and i thought they would be looking for people who ha that in plae already.
As far as i can tell they are undergoing a massive developemnt and are needing lots of nurses and they do take graduate nurses on from overseas so i would just go along to the interiew and see what happens. It says in my email that it is an initial interview to further discuss your application and skills.
All the best, may see you in Perth very soon x
If you want any help with questions they may ask give me a shout, I am a charge urse at the mo so have exoerience of interviewing form both sides and have also had interviews for Oz in the past too

I guess it depends on how you want to progress on the visa route. If you are planning on going for skilled visa 175/176 then not sure as you will be a while down the line before ready to move out. I have applied without IELTS or my AHPRA registration in place and they have invited me for an interview, so could be worth you applying. I notice they hav extended the closing date to wednesday.
I have decided not to go to the info session as I live in Perth and it's a bit of a trek to go the evening before as well as the next day for the interview. I hope that doesn't stand against me

I'm sure they realise. Don't stress and good luck for the interview. Its all pretty standard stuff nothing to stress about, dont forget dont bluff it they want to know that you are a safe practiotioner and that means knowing your limits. Joondalup is a lovely area. Best of british!
