You can buy something called ant rid but the best way we have found is once a year get the house sprayed by a pest company.
They sometimes offer 2 for 1 deals and we always get ant and spider.
If you are renting maybe as the agent if the owner will pay for it as i think it costs around $280.00
We ususaly do ours at the begining of spring and its good as they do all the outside area too, so you dont get ant all over your patio.
Otherwise wipe down benches dont leave sugar or sweet stuff out, and keep everything covered.

Hi
I know exactly how you feel. We're renting and we found loads of the little blighters on our kitchen tops of a morning. I am using antrid bait which you can put on your worktops, cupboards etc.. and also mortein ant sand for the outdoor areas (in betweengrouting on the patio etc...) It seems to be working at the mo.

Hi guys,

We use an Ant Sand thing (cant remember the name - its in a yello container in Woolies!) and we use that aroudn the outside of the house. WHen the ants walk across it trying to get in , they take the "virus" back to their nest and it kills them all.

That worked for us. We dont see hardly any indoors. Plus we have cockroach traps in all our cupboards and we dont get those now either

Ant rid is great if you can find the source, put it down and watch them come out :) then get some silicone filler and fill the holes around the windows which is where i found mine coming in through my Daughters bedroom. real PITA those little ones, and they smell too when you squash them lol
