Haven't had any removal companies round yet and they might be able to tell us this but was wondering what people thought of vacuum packing stuff to go in the container? Never bought them before but seen them advertised and they look like they'll save loads of room so wondered about buying some to pack stuff like towels and bedding which is really bulky (seen as I've been stocking up on new bedding and could now kit out a hotel)!!!!
Also was wondering about our 'ORGANISED' baskets or as we lovingly call them 'JUNK' BASKETS?? We have some wicker type ones and some seagrass ones the same as my huge wash basket thingy????? Are you allowed to take them because they cost a fortune to buy and I like them!!!!
HI GIRLS FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD YOU CAN NOT TAKE WICKER OR ANY UNTREATED WOOD IN TO OZ JUST INCASE THEY HAVE ANY BUGGY THINGS IN THEM .... DONT KNOW ABOUT THE VACUM PACS THEY SOUND GREAT HOPE WE CAN WILL SAVE LOADS OF ROOM ... KAREN

I don't know the answers to your questions but I use the vaccum bags inside the wardrobes to put my winter quilts and spare pillows in. They are really good but im not sure if they would sweat inside your container which would ruin all your new bedding. I have read on here somewhere that you cant even use the plastic boxes that you would put toys etc in. Not sure if this helps but im sure someone will know the answers. You could however use the vac bags inside your suitcases and just hope you dont get stopped at customs or you might never get your stuff back inside the case

I rang the airport and asked this question because i have been super organised and vacuum packed all of the clothes in our suitcases and labelled them with what size they are as i have bought all of the kids clothes til they about 21!!! they said its not a problem to have them on the airoplane but im not sure about your container??? cant see plastic boxes being a problem i showed all ten of the shippers that came out to give me quotes my plastic boxes full of toys and photos and they neva mentioned anything
Our shippers have told us not to pack anything in plastic, be it carrier bags or vacuum packs. Apparently moisture is produced within the plastic packing and can cause mould. Don't know if anyone else has been told this or even if its true, but just repeating what John Mason told us.

one of the shippers told me that they dont use bubble wrap any more for that reason yet all of the others said that its a load of crap! they all tell different tales just to get you to go with them its so confusing and annoying!!!
We packed our suitcases using vacuum bags and it was amazing how much more we were able to take with us! We were also advised to not to pack anything in the vacuum bags to go in our container - again, something to do with sweating and encouraging mould to grow.
