Having spent months finding a decent, comfortable leather sofa in the UK (they either looked awful or were really uncomfortable) I was wondering how much does a decent sofa cost in Oz?
I'm talking about the sort you get from John Lewis for £1K+ rather than the rubbish you get from DFS & co. So a Myers price or similar would probably be about right.
JL quoted £480 to ship a sofa direct or I could buy one before and then ship/ store it until I needed it.
With the VAT refund & then add import duties / GST it would come out at around $3,670 all in if shipped direct or $3,100 if I shipped it as part of my furniture.
If anyone has any links to a sofa website in Oz that would be great.
We have just priced up the Rado modular sofa, 2 seat modular section with chaise $2,399 with another 2 seater it came to about $4,000 ish. Similar item in Harvey Norman about the same price. These two are leather all over, some here have pvc sides and backs.
Hope this helps, let me know if I can help further.
we had shifted to australia & we were just settling down in canberra and we soon realized that our hall was totally empty. There were two chairs for visitors, but one of it was broken and the other just about to give up.
So the hunt began - our first aim was to get a decent sofa set. The main objectives were defined and revolved around.
1) Get a cheap and decent one : There was no point purchasing a costly set unless it is your own house. Hence the hunt for a cheap one but decent one. This was a difficult combination !
2) Easily Movable
3) Re-usable : When purchasing a proper set at a later point of time, this should be reusable. then somebody suggested ime about a particular site i visited and ordered one. see it to belive it
when are you coming over? they have a great sale on at the moment at Myer, couldn't see any leather lounges though, but if you are coming here this time next year you might get a good reduction, they also have the January sales of course.
Why would you want a leather sofa for Pinhead????
On those hots days having it stick to you no thanks! try harvey norman. Or the auctions they have great new and used items at a price you want to pay. or you could always go to a FACTORY OUTLET!!!!!! LOL
