English PC's will they work in OZ?

Just trying to decide what to take. Will our home PC work in OZ or shall we leave it behind?

Hi Samlee

As I type I am using an English PC so that kinda answers your question :D . Seriously though the movers just unplugged it, packed it up and then we unpacked it and plugged it in, the other end. Easy as. And our PC is a bit of a dinosaur with many different parts so no worries!

Cost of PC's

Someone told me that Computers are more expensive in Aus than back in UK. Our machine is pre-war and we were thinking of buying a new one, but decided to wait til we get over. Does anyone over if computers are cheaper or more expensive.

Thanks

Pc Prices

I don't think they're more expensive. If anything they seem cheaper - but that might just be because I'm a little out of touch since I the last time I bought a pc in the UK it was 1995!

Have a look at the aussie sites as examples: www.dell.com.au, http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront, http://www.digitalcity.net.au/

you may find Im wrong!

Buy it in Oz....just think of the headaches if you need to claim under warranty or you have a technical question...

http://www.target.com.au/html/catalogue2726/2726e16.htm

CPU is a VIA 2,000+ 800mhz

$599.00 (about £255)

(Looks like it has a printer included, but doesn't say so ? )

Computers are my living and it's vital that I have access to one as soon as I get to Oz. As a result, I've spent 500 quid on a fairly good Dell laptop. My intention is to move everything off the desktop accounts and sell the desktops in the UK and take the laptop on the flight. This will give me quick access to the net in Oz, which will be particularly helpful when it comes to finding a house, finding jobs, etc, all of which needs to be done before our shipped furniture arrives. Worth thinking about....

Cheers
