Sky instread of Foxtel

Is it true that if you subscribe to Foxtel you can opt to have the UK Sky Europe feed as opposed to the Aussie one.

I'd say they would have that option on the line up at http://foxtel.com.au/channel/lineup.html if you could, which they don't. Maybe pop them email to find out for sure.

If you watch the major free-to-air news on channels 7, 9 and 10 you won’t hear much about the world, unless there is a major event.

Anyhow, the smaller channels - ABC & SBS have very good world news programs, which should provide you with your daily European news fix.

I wish !

No you can't

But if you subscribe to "Foxtel DIGITAL " you do get Sky News UK 24 hours a day as a separate channel. I'm afraid you wont get the 100's of channels you are used to in the UK. You also get BBC world but NOT BBC News 24.

If you have a UK credit card and a little bit of tweaking you can subscribe to realvideo and watch some UK stuff via broadband ( e.g Channel 4 documentaries ) but its not real time.

A new device will come out for Europe early next year called the Slingbox ( its in the USA already) that will do real time TV.

See http://www.slingmedia.com/

Basically you give it to a friend (it will have to be an understanding friend) in the UK who has a broadband connection and you loop the video output from their VCR or cable box through the Slingbox and their broadband connection . You can then access the Slingbox from any broadband connection in any country, change channels back in the UK or play a VCR recording, the slingbox streams this across the internet to your PC. Should be out sometime next year in Europe for UK TV format. I'll be buying one !

Hi - hows it working out on that slingbox thing? Haven't seen it marketed in the UK, but loads of Americans use it. Allegedly something to do with www.orb.com can do similar, but as this PC is at work, I can't access it.

I think you're probably better being left in th dark than relying on the lies, spin and sensationalism that Sky likes to pass off as news these days :)
