Child health care?

Hi all, looking into moving to Oz. But the main deciding factor is the paediatric health care, our 3 year old son has bilateral femoral anteversion, where his femur bones are twisted which causes his feet to twist so he is unsteady on his legs. In the uk he is under investigation with specialist doctors and has new special shoes regularly. Can anyone advise me as to how good their system is? Paying isn't an issue Aslong as we know he can get the health care he needs. Thanks ?

It's not a matter of whether or not you can pay it's more whether the assessment is that his care /support will cost the Australian tax payer over a certain amount. You would be best to consult one of the agents who specialise in medical conditions and visa applications (George Lombard or Peter Bollard are generally mentioned in this regard).

If you can get a visa then health care will be aligned with other first world countries but will probably cost you more than in UK.

I'm not sure what you mean about how good the system is, but there are childrens hospitals where you would be able to be referred to a specialist. I don't know much about your childs condition - is it likely to cause issues with the medicals/Visa?

To be honest I've no idea, we've only just decided to actually go for it, but obviously we don't want to get half way down the line and realise it's an issue. I wouldn't say it's a serious medical condition, but obviously we don't want to hinder his future

The major cities all have children's hospitals and specialists, that is the least of your worries I should think. If you're out in the bush it could be more of a hassle to trek in to see specialists and therapists (as required)
